Wyse Windows XPe
Wyse recognises that some organisations' users may need to access more comprehensive Win32 and Java applications to meet the requirements of their demanding roles. These needs are matched by the Windows XP Embedded (XPe) operating system, whose functionality supports local applications and peripherals, as well as allowing rich web content to be run via a full IE 6 browser.
Wyse thin clients running Windows XPe enable organisations to effectively support their customer service operations by using additional local peripherals that require specific Windows drivers. Examples of their application include retail environments where cash drawers, till receipt printers and Chip & PIN card readers are constantly in use; call centres where operatives use IP phones to integrate telephony with data; and leisure clubs where front office staff create membership cards using a web cam.
Windows XPe is also an ideal choice of operating system where customers need to run specific line-of-business applications, such as ERP systems which require their own Windows client software; where Java clients are a necessary component or where a fully featured browser is required (such as in an Internet café).
Wyse Windows XPe, built on a smaller and more modular platform than Windows XP Professional, capitalises on a 32-bit computing architecture to provide increased reliability. It provides enterprise-level security for customers' devices, supporting industry security standards such as IPsec, Kerberos and smart card.
