Wyse Leads Market With 38 Percent of Global Thin-Client Market in North America

SAN JOSE, Calif. – 12/07/2006 - Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced it holds 38 percent of the worldwide thin client market for 2005 in North America and Western Europe, according to the Gartner Research Report, "Thin-Client Shipments Stage Strongest Growth Since 2000," which was published on June 16, 2006. Wyse holds 38 percent market share in the largest market, North America, followed by 32 percent share in Europe.

Gartner predicts that thin client shipments will grow faster through 2010 as security of data becomes a bigger issue for IT managers. PC security issues will continue to plague organizations and IT departments will be looking to replace PCs with a more secure desktop device.

Wyse continues its dominance as the worldwide market-share leader. The need to comply with regulatory guidelines, the need to secure desktop data, and the resulting management costs are driving more organizations to purchase thin clients. Gartner also reported that the thin client terminal sales in the rest of the world grew 45.3 percent, outpacing growth in North America and Western Europe. The Asia/Pacific region spearheaded that growth even though it's in the early adoption stage.
