Wyse Technology Establishes Asia Pacific Headquarters and Research and Development Center in Beijing
SAN JOSE, Calif. and Beijing, China –
20/10/2005 -
Wyse Technology Inc., the global leader in thin computing, announced today the opening of its Asia Pacific Headquarters and research and development center in Beijing.
Wyse Asia Pacific President, Andrew Hu, heads an expanded Wyse team with a view to capitalize on Wyses leading market share in thin-client shipments. "Now is the right time to aggressively promote thin-client computing as a compelling solution for enterprises throughout Asia Pacific. Greater China comprised of mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan is clearly one of the most strategic markets for the company as a whole, and certainly at the center of our plans for Asia Pacific."
Mr. Hu continued, "When you look at the sheer size of less developed markets like Greater China, you see an immense need for network-centric computing, whether in financial, media, travel, hospitality, logistics and manufacturing industries or in the public sector. The huge numbers involved really brings into focus the low and manageable total cost of ownership of thin-computing solutions."
"Wyse is the market leader in revenue and shipments both globally, and of all thin clients shipped in 2004," commented Bob O'Donnell, Research VP, Clients and Displays with IDC. "We predict the thin-client market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 20.7% from 2005 to 2009,significantly outpacing the overall growth rate of the PC market."
The opening of the Wyse Asia Pacific headquarters today closely follows the recent appointment of Wyse regional directors to lead the expansion of Wyse in Korea, Japan and Greater China, incorporating the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan further demonstrating the commitment and focus of Wyse in this region.
Wyse is also investing in local IT talent with the establishment of a research and development center in Beijing. "The team will ensure that Wyse Technology products are tailored to the needs and wants of customers in China and throughout Asia. The center will also work on further intensive development of our industry leading thin-client operating systems," said Mr.Hu.
President and CEO of Wyse Technology, Mr. John Kish said, "The Asia Pacific region contributed 10% to the firm's total worldwide revenues. Expansion in the Asia Pacific market, especially in China, has become an integral component of our corporate strategy."
