President Bush and California Governor Davis View Demonstration of Energy Savings of Wyse® Technology's Winterm™ Thin Clients

Wyse Thin Appliances Use Up To 90 Percent Less Power Than Personal Computers

LOS ANGELES (05/30/01) ----- Wyse Technology, the worldwide leader in thin-appliance computing announced that President George W. Bush and California Governor Gray Davis viewed a demonstration of the energy savings of Wyse's Winterm™ thin appliances over personal computers. Following a discussion with the World Affairs Council in Los Angeles – 30/05/2001 - Wyse Winterm thin appliance, which can help conserve energy.

Since the beginning of the year, the state of California has had 38 days of stage three alerts, as reported by the California Independent System Operator (ISO) in an updated report released on May 22, 2001 (www.caiso.com). The alerts have resulted in a greater need for businesses to conserve energy by looking at all facets of their operations, from business and manufacturing hours, to their IT systems. Wyse Winterm thin appliances are desktop devices that run popular Windows applications from central servers and display the applications on a monitor. They use energy-efficient National Semiconductor Geode™ processors and have no internal moving parts such as fans or disk drives, enabling the devices to use only seven to 10 watts of electricity per hour. This is in comparison to personal computers that can use as much as 200 watts per hour.
