Wyse RoHS Compliance and WEEE Recycling Program

The RoHS Directive stands for “the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment”. This directive is only practiced in the European Union. A RoHS compliant product means that electrical and electronic equipment cannot contain more than maximum permitted levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants starting on July 1, 2006.

WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Recycling is an EU mandate that was implemented in 2003 and requires the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment waste in the European Union, this will soon become domestic law.

Wyse is complying with ROHS and WEEE requirements as identified below.

RoHS Compliance

RoHS compliant products put on the market in the EU after July 1, 2006, should not contain more than the maximum permitted levels of the following chemicals:

  • lead
  • mercury
  • cadmium
  • hexavalent chromium
  • polybrominated biphenyls
  • polybrominated diphenyl ethers
Permitted levels are .01% by weight for cadmium, and .1% for the other substances.

Wyse is in compliance with the RoHS directive.

Producers may be required to present documentation that demonstrates that the levels of restricted substances in products are at or below the permitted levels for the above-listed substances. (No branding or specific marking is required on products to show compliance with the RoHS directive.)
